Summer wedding music

23 September 2021

Gosh, July and August seem to have gone by in a flash! I was delighted to finally be able to play the harp for all my couples whose weddings were postponed due to covid.

As a result, it has been a busier summer than usual, with weddings taking place everywhere from London, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and even Leicestershire and Oxfordshire! I live in central London, so travelling to any of the Home Counties is an easy trip - just pop the harp in the car and go!

Despite the rather grey summer weather, many of my wedding ceremonies took place outside. Playing outside is fine to do with a harp, but the weather (sun or rain) and type of ground (how flat/muddy) need to be taken into account. Most venues have a folly or gazebo area that I can set up in, but it can be worth considering a plan B just in case!

Music requests for my wedding ceremonies this year have included everything from John Legend, Christina Perri, Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Metallica, and Coldplay (interestingly I have noticed a definite resurgence in popularity of 'Clocks' after a few years hiatus!), through to the enduring classic, Pachelbel's Canon in D.

Aside from the naturally gorgeous surroundings that most venues enjoy, I have also been treated to some stunning decorations for both ceremony rooms and the main reception!
